Shiny bell CW2 Dana Lane May 19 Barry Beard May 19 I am not sure we showed it the same respect. Bill Walker May 19 I had to buy a round for everyone several times
because I either wore my sidearm into the bar, or had not removed my cap when
I came in. Today I reach in my pocket every time I hear a bell. 17 |

Lieutenant
Molly Hein - Lancer 16
101st CAB, Wings of Destiny
The Vietnam Lancers thank you for coordinating everything this week. Here we
were 52 years ago when Mike Kain (bottom right) was our Lancer 16 … and he’d
sure be proud of you carrying on that tradition.
Mike’s career later in life included G3, 3rd Armor Division, Desert Storm;
Brigade Commander 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division; Director, Center for Army
Tactics, Fort Leavenworth. Mike’s last Assignment was Commander, Battle Command
Training Program there and after retirement, he became Program Director for
Northrop Grumman Information Technology’s, Battle Command Training Program for
the next 16 years where he truly had a positive impact on the entire Army. Tom
Clancy cited Mike in his book on leadership. We lost Mike last September.
And Molly, we are all so proud knowing who’s filling those shoes. That may
sound daunting but look at everyone’s faces. We were all kids once. "The
future is made of the same stuff as the present." ...
PS: Disregard the hand jesters. The media was swarming all around us. Kids.
What Are You Gonna Do?

Presents
Bob Morris, Robert Clewell and Ray Ferrante each one of our Lancer challenge
coins in recognition for their efforts on LZ Lolo. (Introductions by B Co 158th
Avn "LANCERS" Colonel Donald Pipes) Lancers 101st CAB, Wings of
Destiny
On 3
March 1971 Bob Morris, as a member of one of two Comanchero aircraft crews that
was already shot down witnessed the Lancer ship of WO Manuel Catzoela (Aircraft
68-16279) getting hit and crashing into the heat of that same incredible
battle.
Robert
Morris helped recover Charles Anderson’s body and pressed water to Paul
Scambati’s lips all day as he too lay mortally wounded.
In
March, 1998, as part of a small group including Comanchero Robert Clewell and
Kingsman/Comanchero Ray Ferrante they toured Vietnam and (with great difficulty)
they made it back to the top of the very remote LZ Lolo in Laos to commemorate
the event.
Ray
had commissioned a brass marker, and Bob provided a memorial plaque with
Charles and Paul’s names and date which they installed in the rock face atop
the high escarpment mountaintop, with the assistance of some local villagers.
This
is about as emotional a reunion as it gets. Rosemarie Sgambati-Parillo ❤️
The
way I’ve been posting these the entire chain of command sees all of them.
Col
Cody hit the like button the minute that I complimented Lt Hein -which got her
well-deserved notice.
All
the while it helps tell our story to the entire command and knit the MDL with
those old guys there.
