We celebrate the life of Phillip C. Jourdan,
who passed away on December 31, 2020. He was born in
Royal Oak, Michigan on September 24, 1949.
Phil joined the army at the age of 19, serving
his country as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne
Division. After a critical injury during combat, for which he received a Purple
Heart, he finished his military career of six years stationed in the United
States as a CW2. For his service, he was also awarded the National Defense
Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Army Aviator Badge. Call Sign(s): THUNDER
47, LANCER 47, Flight Class: 69-45
Truly a self-made man and inspiration for hard
work and integrity, Phil enjoyed a 33-year long career at Proctor & Gamble
after his military service. Earning recognition as a successful startup
manager, he worked extensively in the US, Canada, and Europe, which suited his
love of history and travel. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, model trains, and
especially his role of doting grandpa to “his girls.”
Phil was preceded in death by his parents,
Phillip and Mary, and a brother, Roger. He is survived by his three sons,
Phillip, David, and Stephen; three sisters, Sharon, Claudia, and Denise; a
brother, Daniel; four granddaughters, Ame, Leta, Cameron, and Claire; and many
more relatives and friends, all to whom he was endlessly generous and
considerate. We fondly honor his memory.
Two services will be held in remembrance; one
in Anderson, SC on January 30, 2021, at 1 pm at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel,
and another in Michigan at a date and time to be specified later. Please visit
